Packing

Packing for 3 days of a Nurse's Conference in Orlando.  This paper pieced bra is not really going into the suitcase but I fancied the idea of it!  I will be packing some cotton round pieces for yo-yo making on the journey.  I am packing a second bag for a crazy quilt class that I will go to the morning after my return.  I am excited to cut and stitch the varying thrifty textiles- wool, denim, embroidery, hand painted fabric, silk, etc into my first crazy quilt block.  Packing is so much fun!  Jessica Pearl

Tea in the Garden

This circular garden template was a stitch along sampler from long ago at &stitches.  Even though I was late to the party, I printed the template and stitched some foliage, very freeform.  I do much better tending a stitchy garden as opposed to a real one!  Plus you don't have springtime jonquils blooming next to winter roses in a real garden!
After touring the garden, I would like to invite you for tea!  This tea pot block is Quiet Play's paper pieced block of the month. This particular stitch along is not late!  Late or not, dear friends, you are always welcome in my garden for tea!  Jessica Pearl

Fabric Panels R Me

I am kind of a sucker for fabric panels!  This was confirmed recently at the cutting table of my most favorite quilt shop.  I could be heard saying, "I'll take a panel of this and a panel of that, 2 panels here...". I went panel crazy! Panels make up so quick and fun!  A week later, one panel is already made up into apron.  Let's hear it for panels!

Upcycle and other stitches

I took Betz White's Craftsy class, Project Upcycle last week.  In one quick project, Betz makes a wallet from a shirt cuff but I am broke so no wallet required!  I made a needle book instead.  I like to keep a needle book with each wip, very handy to have threaded needles at the ready!  While I was cutting into this thrifted Talbot's shirt, I decided to couple it with a yellow linen blouse.  I am a little undecided about the finished blouse but I love the yellow and teal.  Like my embroidery garden, it maybe growing on me!  'Bee'ing Social!  Jessica Pearl

Batter Up!

Well, Gina said this could be slightly addictive!  She was not kidding!  I liken the process of paper piecing to playing with paper dolls!  Something about perforated edges revealing pretties!  Love it!  My 2nd block, 'Batter Up!'. Linking up to Finish It Friday. Happy Friday!  Jessica Pearl

A Funner Frock

Linen dresses are abundant.  Not necessarily a dime a dozen, but I am constantly finding these on the bargain racks in my thrift store haunts.  This particular dress was 50 cents.  I chopped off the bottom, sewed a flirtier, shorter hem and used some of the remnants to make tabs around the neck.  I think it's a much funner dress now!  It should come as no surprise that I have a collection of thrifted scarves to loop at the neckline, giving this dress many lives!  Speaking of lives, you might note that my dressform, Minnie Pearl made it out the front door with our new funner dress!  As if a new dress was not enough, I have more linen remnant for pretty patchwork!  Just  'Bee' ing social, thrifting and sewing!  Jessica Pearl
