Linen dresses are abundant. Not necessarily a dime a dozen, but I am constantly finding these on the bargain racks in my thrift store haunts. This particular dress was 50 cents. I chopped off the bottom, sewed a flirtier, shorter hem and used some of the remnants to make tabs around the neck. I think it's a much funner dress now! It should come as no surprise that I have a collection of thrifted scarves to loop at the neckline, giving this dress many lives! Speaking of lives, you might note that my dressform, Minnie Pearl made it out the front door with our new funner dress! As if a new dress was not enough, I have more linen remnant for pretty patchwork! Just 'Bee' ing social, thrifting and sewing! Jessica Pearl
Oh yeah! Minnie is looking sew fine in her spring linen dress. The addition of the loops and pretty scarf - Brilliant! Glad to see spring is in the air! The Natural Patchwork looks intriguing.

I love scarves around necklines. Jazzes it up. Have you thought of turning word verification off? good tutorial at http://thewindyside.blogspot.co.nz/2014/03/one-super-simple-tip-to-get-more.html - It gets more people coming back and commenting as the verification is a pain. Cheers
ReplyDeleteLove that dress update, great idea around the neck. And I want to know more about the book?! Is it good? It looks like it might be a Japanese patchwork book? I have a soft spot for them.
